tran-zish-uhn

tran·si·tion:  movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change

'Panta rei' (also spelled 'rhei') is the philosophy that everything flows.  We are constantly faced with changes and challenges on life's journey.  The transitions of life can be effortless and full of grace or we can choose to suffer and struggle.  If our attitude is resistance, we will suffer.  If we cling or grasp onto the old when something new or different is coming our way, we will struggle.  In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali called it aparigraha or non-possessiveness.  The opposite of non-possessive is hoarding.  Clinging to an old way of being is a sort of mental hoarding.  A clear and open mind creates no resistance for whatever comes our way.  Do some mental housekeeping and remove any obstacles to change that may be keeping you stuck in an unhealthy rut.  This is a great time of year to take inventory.  Let 2012 be a year of new beginnings and graceful transitions.
